Traveling from Kuala Terengganu Airport to Shahbandar Jetty

Terengganu can be reached by various means, by road, air or railway. In case you are flying into Terengganu, you will land the Sultan Mahmud Airport in Kuala Terengganu. This is the only airport in Terengganu that operate various flights on a daily basis.
It operates flights from AirAsia, Firefly and Malaysian Airlines. You will have to hire a cab or a taxi to from Kuala Terengganu airport to Shahbandar Jetty, taxis are easily available outside. It will take about 30 minutes from the airport to get to the Shahbandar jetty in a cab. The taxi fares are based on the meter or coupon. However, it is best to negotiate the fare with the driver beforehand. If you are traveling in peak season, and in case you hire a cab for both the sides, you might have to pay in advance including the return. Usually, fare starts from RM25 per journey; also you will find a number of shops and a Wet Market, from where you can buy snacks and drinks. You shall reach to Shahbandar Jetty within 20 minutes from the airport via taxi.
Shahbandar Jetty is used by some of the resorts in Redang that are Coral Redang, Redang Lagoon and Berjaya Redang and the ferry depart from there at 9:00am, 10:00am and 3:00pm. The return fare charged per person is RM100 and it takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes to reach.
The Shahbandar Jetty is situated right opposite to the Tourist Information Centre and General Post Office in downtown Kuala Terengganu, which can be reached by Kuala Terengganu coach station within a walk of 15 minutes. It is found near to the famous attractions Chinatown, Puteri Hill, Maziah Palace and various shops, eateries and other interesting places.
Thus, if you are planning to visit Redang, then it is better that you opt to travel through a ferry. You can take a taxi easily from the Kuala Terengganu airport to Shahbandar Jetty and then set ahead to your destination.
